The ingredient of Herbed Soda Bread
- 225g 1 1 2 cups plain flour
- 240g 1 1 2 cups wholemeal plain flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 4 cup chopped fresh continental parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 250ml 1 cup buttermilk
- 40ml 2 tablespoons buttermilk extra
- 2 eggs lightly whisked
- 40g 2 tablespoons butter melted cooled
The Instruction of herbed soda bread
- preheat oven to 180u00b0c line a large baking tray with non stick baking paper
- sift the flours salt baking powder and bicarbonate of soda into a large bowl stir in the sugar parsley basil and thyme make a well in the centre
- combine the buttermilks eggs and butter in a jug and pour into the centre of the flour mixture use a wooden spoon to combine the mixture until it begins to hold together bring the mixture together with your hands and turn onto a lightly floured surface shape into an 18cm round or 8 small rolls and place on the lined tray
- use a sharp knife dusted in flour to cut a 1cm deep cross on the top of the round or rolls bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes for the large bread and 25 minutes for the small rolls or until browned and crusty
