- preheat the oven to 180 u00b0 c 160 lightly grease a springform pan of 20 cm and line the base with baking paper
- place the butter powdered sugar and chocolate in a large bowl over a saucepan of simmering water make sure the bowl doesnt touch the water use a metal spoon to stir until the chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth remove from the heat quickly add the vanilla egg yolk almonds and coconut
- place the egg white in a clean dry bowl use electric beater to beat until firm peaks form add a large spoonful into the chocolate mixture and stir to loosen fold in the remaining egg white until uniformly combined taking care not to lose too much volume
- gently pour the mixture into the prepared pan bake in the oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched set aside in the pan for 20 minutes to cool run a knife around side to loosen remove the side and the bottom of the pan before transferring them to the vertical cake on a wire rack to cool completely
- dust the cake with icing sugar and top with whipped cream and strawberries to serve
